SAP Support Specialist / Finance Administrator (1st shift)

This position involves user support and SAP basis administration tasks, primarily in the FICO area. Administer external Finance-related systems, such as Vertex and Concur. Position is an exempt salaried position.

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in SAP manufacturing environment
  • Possess experience in accounting process

Actual Tasks

  • Support users in the use of all finance processes, including GL, AR, AP and product costing
  • Provide 1st level help desk support to diagnose and resolve issues. Escalate issues to 2nd level (German help desk) support when additional support is necessary
  • Administer Vertex Sales Tax System, interfaced to SAP. This includes day-to-day management of the system, processing of monthly tax rate updates, mapping of new special charge part numbers to tax classifications, implementing new jurisdictions, creating custom tax reports, and supporting Accounting with the research of any tax calculation issues identified in periodic state sales tax filings
  • Co-administer Concur expense reporting system, interfaced to SAP (responsibility shared with SAP-Support/Sales process expert)
  • Back-up SAP Administrator responsible for the implementation of product pricing rules within SAP ERP for general customer classes, as well as customers with special pricing.
  • Back-up SAP Administrator responsible for generating, reconciling, and distributing monthly commission report
  • Research the impacts of new or proposed SAP processes/process changes on GL, and ensure SAP processes meet US GAAP
  • Maintain close direct relationship with US-based SEW Finance and General Management to collectively determine process changes and improvements which fit both the US environment and SEW organizational philosophy
  • Develop Finance process training programs for US SAP users
  • Administer Finance process training to SAP users.
  • Generate, update, and maintain SAP training documentation, as needed
  • Analyze processes to identify potential efficiency improvements and use independent judgment to determine and implement solutions to such improvements, operating within the predefined SEW SAP standards
  • Perform SAP customizing processes, and transport through D, Q, and P systems
  • Maintain data tables in SAP
  • Develop, generate, and broadcast reports in Business Warehouse and Business Analyzer
  • Test new processes and process changes
  • Develop test protocols for new functionality introduction and system upgrades and direct users in the testing of Finance functionality in the quality ERP system to ensure processes are thoroughly tested before implementation
  • Investigate, specify, purchase and implement add-on software for extension of base software functionality, as needed
  • Determine and administer the appropriate user access in SAP, complying with the rules for segregation of duties and limits to access confidential data, as defined by IT manager
  • Share Basis administration duties with other SAP Administrators in IT
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and driving records satisfactory to SEW-EURODRIVE or otherwise be able to transport yourself to and from other SEW sites, seminars, customer facilities or other required travel, to engage in business activities
  • Backup other IT personnel in SAP related functions, as well as other functions as needed
  • Must comply with all current ISO Quality and Work Instructions for job, all Company Safety rules, and all other Company rules, policies and procedures
  • Assess each situation and do not perform any tasks which s/he feels is unsafe, on which s/he has not received training, or engage in any unsafe work practices. Report any unsafe condition to his/her manager
  • Read and understand supporting documentation for the work area
  • Perform other tasks as requested

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be accurate and careful
  • Minimum 5 years experience in SAP manufacturing environment
  • Possess experience in Accounting process
  • Familiarity with sales tax laws
  • Understanding of GAAP

Environmental

  • Work within SEW-EURODRIVE office environment with ability to operate equipment including telephones, computers, and fax machines
  • Work in Lyman office
  • Remain continuously within the normal work area
  • Position requires regular and punctual attendance and ability to work overtime as required, including weekends
  • Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 1 hour for lunch and breaks combined
  • Wear OSHA approved personal protective equipment (PPE) where required by Company policy or where necessary as dictated by safe practice
  • Normal tasks accomplished at a desk where the employee is required to sit for extended amounts of time
  • Must be willing to VPN into the network on evenings and weekends should project work or emergency dictate it
  • Must be available to travel periodically
