MFG Office - Assistant - Logistics (1st shift) - Lyman, SC

This position currently provides administrative support to manufacturing operations and coordinates international shipments.

Actual Tasks

  • Handle Manufacturing exports, following all pertinent US and international government regulations. These tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate with production control, customers/consignees, freight forwarders, steamship lines, and intermodal carriers to book and schedule ocean, air and ground export shipments.
  • Prepare and maintain export documents such as invoices, packing lists, truck bills of lading, and shipper’s list of instructions, packing declarations, origin statements, and other documents as required by various countries.
  • Assist other US facilities as needed to ensure that their export documents and packaging meet export requirements.
  • Issue and maintain certificates of origin and other export documents as required.
  • Work with Accounting and IT to set up new customers and maintain prices.
  • Negotiate freight rates for export containers and air freight from Manufacturing. Keep up with and approve constantly changing export rates.
  • Review and approve or dispute invoices from export service providers as appropriate.
  • Facilitate imports to Lyman Manufacturing.
  • Manually enter international orders in SAP as needed.
  • Monitor sales orders for errors and irregularities and make corrections as applicable.
  • Use SAP to:
  • Check stock and availability of parts
  • Work with deliveries
  • Create invoices, credits and debits
  • Create packing and weight lists
  • Check selling prices
  • Create and evaluate various reports related to master data, sales, production

Skills and Abilities

  • Must have good oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Possess strong overall office skills, including use of computers, their applications, and other office equipment
  • Ability to appropriately handle stress and interact with others.
  • Must be currently eligible and authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing indefinite basis.
