IG Office - Industrial Gears Project Manager (1st shift) - Lyman, SC

Manage project orders and provide project engineering support, to achieve company performance standards and high customer satisfaction.

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of Project Management Experience.

Actual Tasks

  • 1.1- Project Management:
  • Actively work with internal personnel and customers to maintain order flow from entry to shipment to meet project targets.
  • Develop project schedules, monitor and communicate order status and delays to project stakeholders.
  • Review order specifications, including technical and commercial terms to ensure compliance or notify management of undesirable conditions.
  • Perform project order reviews and coordinate order changes.
  • Review dimension drawings for approval prior to submittal to customers.
  • Review Order Acknowledgements prior to submittal to customers.
  • Perform internal and external (suppliers) coordination with early material sourcing.
  • Support commercial negotiations with project suppliers.
  • Perform product technical acceptance witness inspections at supplier factories when needed.
  • Perform internal and external kickoff meetings at the start of project orders to define project scope, milestones and deliverables.
  • Perform closeout meetings at the end of projects to review successes, failures, and challenges to identify lessons learned to implement in future projects.
  • Manage and coordinate documentation transmittals to customers. Technical, quality and commercial documentation required for project orders, including customer data sheets and support documentation.
  • Coordinate project order handling with SEW-Eurodrive international manufacturing plants as well as with component suppliers.
  • Support logistical aspects for shipment and export documentation when needed.
  • Develop positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Monitor and elaborate cost for margin reports.
  • Develop and implement Project Management policies and procedures within the Quality Management System.
  • Define and maintain the definition of projects within the Industrial Gear division.
  • Coordinate accounting activities along with billing plans.
  • Manage and coordinate customer visits or inspections before shipping.
  • Meet U.S. sales requirements as established by management and grow the market for Industrial Gear products.
  • 1.2 - Project Engineering Support:
  • Supporting sales support activities: Creating quotations, gear unit selections, quotation revisions, order configurations and preliminary drawings as required for timely completion for project award.
  • Supporting Logistics: Pre-sales coordination with inquiries to suppliers
  • Supporting Sales: Activities with customer visits when required.
  • Supporting after sales (Service) with coordination and possible customer visits for activities related to start-up commissioning and customer trainings.
  • 1.3 - Internal Project Support:
  • Support coordination of internal improvement projects defined by Management.
  • 1.4 - Additional Tasks:
  • Maintain and develop technical product knowledge of SEW-Eurodrive Industrial Gear Products, including X, MC, M, ML, P.
  • Maintain and develop technical product knowledge of SEW-Eurodrive Industrial Gear accessories, couplings, and lubrication systems.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge and understanding of applications and industries that SEW-Eurodrive Industrial Gear products are sold into.
  • Maintain and develop a working knowledge of SEW–Eurodrive’s entire product line and other Industrial Gear products.
  • Travel up to 25% on Company business to any required destination domestically as well as overseas with overnight stay for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally conduct business in the evenings, weekends, and holidays and outside of normal business hours.
  • Follow all customer safety rules, including the passing of any required drug screens.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and driving record satisfactory to SEW-EURODRIVE or otherwise be able to transport yourself to and from various locations, including customer facilities, to engage in diverse business activities.
  • Must comply with all current ISO Quality and Work Instructions for job, all Company Safety rules, and all other Company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Assess each situation and do not perform any tasks which s/he feels is unsafe, on which s/he has not received training, or engage in any unsafe work practices. Report any unsafe condition to his/her manager.
  • Read and understand supporting documentation for the work area.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Skills and Abilities

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of Project Management Experience.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain a driving record satisfactory to SEW-Eurodrive.
  • Ability to read and understand parts lists, catalogs, price books, general factory instructions and other technical documents.
  • Ability to perform all tasks listed above to the Company’s expectations.
  • Must be currently eligible and authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing indefinite basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with continuous interruptions.
  • Good oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instruction, written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize workload for timely accomplishment of work.
  • Ability to communicate with all Company employees in a businesslike and professional manner.
  • Ability to appropriately handle stress and interact with others.
  • Possess strong overall office skills, including use of computers, their applications, and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, push and pull, bend, twist, stoop, and kneel.

Environmental

  • Work within SEW-EURODRIVE office environment with ability to operate equipment including telephones, computers, and fax machines.
  • Ability to work within SEW-Eurodrive production and office environment with exposure to all kinds of oils, and various chemicals (complete list available upon request).
  • Work in SEW IG Wellford office.
  • Remain continuously within the normal work area.
  • Position requires regular and punctual attendance and ability to work overtime as required, including weekends.
  • Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 1 hour for lunch.
  • Ability to travel in various modes of transportation for extended periods of time including but not limited to an automobile or airplane.
  • Wear OSHA approved personal protective equipment (PPE) where required by Company policy or where necessary as dictated by safe practice.
