IG - Production Planner (1st shift) - SC

Position involves all aspects of planning and coordinating all orders to ensure on time delivery status is met.

Experience and Work Hours

  • Experience in a mechanical manufacturing and assembly environment is preferred
  • Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Actual Tasks

  • Sales Support:
  • Must be Customer Service Driven
  • Work within SAP-ERP/CRM.
  • Maintain a spreadsheet of scheduled orders, late orders, and special handling orders to ensure on time delivery status is met
  • Update Wellford Industrial Gear (IG) Dashboard daily with current lead times and scheduling start dates and Holidays
  • Open Order Reports twice a week to add new orders to the spreadsheet
  • Manage and Release production orders to the shop
  • Keep track of progress of units through the shop and assembly process
  • Check with logistics on parts shortages, track and follow containers
  • Work with SBB Product shop assemblers to correct any issues that may come up
  • Address non-conformances by communicating promptly and as far in advance as possible to customers, Sales Representatives and Customer Service Representatives (CSR) when shop orders are placed on hold or delayed. In some cases this may require a change in ship date, ship-to address or any other information to ensure the customers’ needs are met.
  • Requires interaction with all departments of Assembly including Shop, Customer Service, Sales Administration, Engineering and Inventory.
  • Advise customer and sales of late orders and late shipment dates
  • Remind/Advise Shipping what is supposed to ship each day
  • Commercial Check of Order Prior to Shipping
  • Crosstrain to serve as backup to the IG Production Planner
  • Documentation:
  • On Time Delivery (OTD) Weekly Report
  • Create OTD Pareto Chart for tracking late order cause for Super Big Build for monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Review
  • Complete required documentation listed above completely, promptly and accurately.
  • Support Quality Management System procedures.
  • Other duties:
  • Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of SEW–EURODRIVE’s entire product line especially Big Build product line and other Industrial Gear products.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and driving record satisfactory to SEW-Eurodrive or otherwise be able to transport yourself to and from various locations, including customer facilities, to engage in diverse business activities.
  • Follow all customer safety rules, including the passing of any required drug screens.
  • Must comply with all current ISO Quality and Work Instructions for job, all Company Safety rules, and all other Company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Assess each situation and do not perform any tasks for which he/she feels is unsafe, on which he/she has not received training, or engage in any unsafe work practices. Report any unsafe condition to his/her manager.
  • Read and understand supporting documentation for the work area.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

  • Must be currently eligible and authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing indefinite basis.

  • Experience in a mechanical manufacturing and assembly environment is preferred.
  • Possess strong overall office skills, including use of computers, their applications, and other office equipment.
  • Must have good oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to occasionally sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, push and pull, bend, twist, stoop, and kneel.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Must exhibit good logical technical knowledge.

Environmental

  • Work within SEW-EURODRIVE office environment with ability to operate equipment including telephones, computers, and fax machines.
  • Work in Wellford office and shop area.
  • Remain continuously within the normal work area.
  • Position requires regular, predictable and punctual attendance and ability to work overtime as required, including weekends.
  • Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 1 hour for lunch and breaks combined.
  • Wear OSHA approved personal protective equipment (PPE) where required by Company policy or where necessary as dictated by safe practice.
  • Normal tasks accomplished at a desk, must be capable of accessing files, and moving and lifting binders and reports. At times job may require working in the Assembly plant or at customers’ locations.
