Corporate Accountant II - Lyman, SC
Backup to managing corporate accounting department, and backup to overseeing accounting functions at other U.S. sites. Financial reporting.
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
Actual Tasks
- Administer online banking (fraud analysis, wires, etc…).
- Monthly financial reporting (internal financials, MFR for Germany).
- Backup for managing Corporate accounting personnel directly & through committee, site Admins. Backup for overseeing the performance and accuracy of all site accounting staff.
- Backup to managing banking relationships (Wells/Millennial, NWM, AMEX, DB, etc…).
- Setting up corporate credit cards for individuals.
- Yearly financial reporting (statutory and reporting for Germany, HBII).
- Backup to managing/oversee audits (external and internal).
- Work closely with in-house counsel concerning the financial aspects of contracts.
- Census reports (NC-9901, NC-9902, NC-9903, MA-1000, MA-3000 M-3, Export Price indexes, QFR-200, Green goods and service survey, MQ-C1, quarterly plant capacity and utilization).
- Sign checks (all Accounts Payable checks for all sites, other checks as needed), and check backups for accuracy.
- Backup to managing banking relationships (Wells/Millennial, NWM, AMEX, DB, etc…).
- Command an understanding of NEXUS related issues.
- AGMA reporting (AGMA ORR Survey annually in conjunction with CEM).
- Financial forecasting for Germany in coordination with VP (annual and updates as requested).
- Prepare information/estimates for tax accountants.
- Review and file tax returns.
- Be able to perform census surveys.
- Help develop and deploy cross-training program.
- Provide information for and review prepared Transfer pricing study.
- Approve release of payments for retirement plan (weekly).
- Approve release of payments for Health plan (weekly).
- Review 5500 tax returns for Health plan and Retirement plan and signature by HR Manager.
- Review bank reconciliations.
- Review account reconciliations.
- Customer credit review (Past Due, Big Project, etc…)
- Maintain costs for Manufacturing through variance analysis.
- Review scraps report, quarterly.
- Cycle count management.
- Other accounting projects (examples Job Development credit, Fee-in-lieu, work with county and state authorities for incentives and tax breaks).
- Work with IT Manager to integrate IT solutions to make SEW systems more efficient (ex: Workday, Concur, Vertex)
- Work within and maintain company policy. Ensure disciplinary actions are taken when appropriate, and that all Company rules, policies, and procedures are followed within area of responsibility. Inform Management, including HR of any violations of Company policy.
- Must comply with all Company Safety rules, and all other Company rules, policies and procedures.
- Assure a safe work environment for all employees. Resolve any safety issues in the workplace and/or report any unsafe findings to Management.
- Assess each situation and do not perform any tasks which s/he feels is unsafe, on which s/he has not received training, or engage in any unsafe work practices.
- Read and understand supporting documentation for the work area.
- Ensure accurate and timely record keeping, including time-keeping for employees.
- Give merit reviews to all employees under direct supervision per Company policy.
- Develop employees for future possible growth and succession planning.
- May be required to travel on Company business to any required destination domestically as well as overseas. May be required to stay overnight for extended periods of time, obtain lodging, and occasionally conduct business in the evenings, weekends, and holidays and outside of normal business hours.
- Possess and maintains a valid Driver’s License and driving record satisfactory to SEW-EURODRIVE and be able to transport yourself to and from various locations, including customer facilities, to conduct business.
- Bookkeeping for sister companies
- Perform other tasks as requested
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform all tasks listed above to the Company’s expectations.

- Must be able to repetitively lift up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- SAP and Sage experience preferred. Must possess the “want to” to learn if not proficient.
- Master Tax experience preferred Credit report must be acceptable to SEW-EURODRIVE.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
- Accurate data entry and math skills.
- Detail orientated.

Environmental
- Work within SEW-EURODRIVE office environment with ability to operate equipment including telephones, computers, and fax machines.
- Work in Lyman office.
- This is an on-site position.
- Remain continuously within the normal work area.
- Position requires regular, predictable and punctual attendance and ability to work overtime as required, including weekends.
- Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 1 hour for lunch and breaks combined. Salaried employees are expected to work on average 45 hours/week minimum.
- Wear OSHA approved personal protective equipment (PPE) where required by Company policy or where necessary as dictated by safe practice.
