Assembly Shop - Inventory Specialist (1st shift) - Bridgeport, NJ

Position involves documenting, inspecting, tagging and shelving incoming shipments in an accordance with the SEW system. The main focus of the position at this time is in inventory.

Normal Work Hours

Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. When requested, must be able and willing to work other shifts.

Actual Tasks

  • Inspect all shipments matching specifications of the actual purchase orders.
  • Unpack and inventory shipments in accordance to prescribed procedures.
  • Label all boxes according to company/customer procedures and process receiving paper in a timely and proper manner.
  • Must be responsible for the use, maintenance and inventory of the material handling equipment and all related receiving supplies and equipment.
  • Perform location counts and yearly inventory when required.
  • Rotate stock when practical.
  • Use crane, stacker, forklift and pallet jack to transport product.
  • Restock locations with appropriate parts
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Skilla and Abilities

  • Production requirements-Must be able to continuously meet the standards set for putting product away in a timely manner by their supervisor.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to understand nomenclature and number assignments to insure proper unit identification.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to perform physical activity associated with operation of equipment including bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching in order to meet production needs.
  • Must be able to stand and move continuously during working hours.
  • Must be able to repetitively lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to develop improvement techniques.
  • Ability to learn SEW-EURODRIVE products, including technical details.
  • Ability to communicate with all Company employees in a businesslike and professional manner. Ability to appropriately handle stress and interact with others.
  • Must be able to move pallets in the receiving area and off trucks with the fork truck or pallet jack as required.
  • Must be able to communicate via phone and paperwork clearly.
  • Must be able to safely move material to and from workstation using fork truck or overhead crane.

Environmental

  • Ability to work within the Assembly environment with exposure to chemicals used in the wash/paint process as well as oils, greases, solvents, and cleaners (list available upon request).
  • Work in Bridgeport Assembly plant.
  • Remain continuously within the normal work area, except for formal break times.
  • Position requires regular and punctual attendance and ability to work overtime as required, including weekends.
  • Normal work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. When requested, must be able and willing to work other shifts.
  • Wear OSHA approved personal protective equipment (PPE) where required by Company policy or where necessary as dictated by safe practice.
