Modular DR.. series motor system
The modular DR.. motor series includes the 3 types of energy efficient motors (IE1, IE2 and IE3) along with the perfect brake concept – up to 3 different brake sizes per motor size – as well as cost-optimized built-in encoders integrated in the motor. The DR.. motors comply with all worldwide standards and already fulfill the new parts of the IEC motors standard.

Modular brake system – The brake of your choice
The BE brake is based on the extremely successful BM(G) brake, but was further developed in many aspects. The size of the brake has always been inextricably linked to the size of the motor. “Less” brake is possible only by reducing the braking torque using a modified brake spring.

The new combination options of DR.. series motors with BE brakes are no longer subject to this restriction. The DR.. series motor can be combined with two or three different BE brake sizes.

The DR.. series motor can be combined with the ideal BE brake to match its requirements for the braking torque or braking work.

Moreover, brakes mounted on motors larger than size 90 have an additional special feature. The brake itself is mounted on a friction plate, which only has to be attached to the endshield. Without opening the motor, the unit can now simply be removed and replaced – even with a larger or smaller brake.

Built-in encoder
The new built-in encoders in the modular DR.. series motor system are unique. Instead of an add-on encoder mounted to the fan guard of the non-drive end, the encoder can now be installed between the endshield and the fan. This means that any extra length caused by mounted encoders is avoided.

DRL.. motor
In addition to the basic high overload capacity of DR.. series motors, this motor is suited for high dynamic loads. This means that it fulfills the properties of an asynchronous servomotor.

DRK.. motor
The DRK.. motor in the modular DR.. series motor system is a single-phase motor that can be operated on a single-phase power supply (instead of the usual three-phase power supply). The DRK.. motor comes equipped with running capacitor CB.
DRK.. series motors can be operated on the following single-phase power grids:
– 220 V/ 50 Hz, 230 V / 50 Hz, 220 V / 60 Hz or 230 V / 60 Hz
The running capacitor integrated in the terminal box allows for operation under many demanding ambient conditions. SEW-EURODRIVE also offers ET56 and ER63 motors.

DRM.. motor
The DRM.. motor in the modular DR.. series motor system is a 12-pole motor that allows for thermally safe operation on a 3-phase mains supply, even if the rotor is blocked. The usual product designation “torque motor” is also maintained for the DRM.. motor.
Every torque motor is available with 2 rated torques. Rating 2 can be three times the torque of rating 1 but either only in S3/15% cdf or in S1 continuous duty with forced cooling fan only.
